DEL PASO HEIGHTS, CA – One house is a loss and two others sustained damage in a two-alarm fire in Sacramento Tuesday afternoon. When Sacramento city firefighters arrived to the 3700 block of Haywood Street at 2 p.m., one house was in flames and they were spreading to the homes on either side, said Sacramento Fire Department spokesman Capt. Jim Doucette. One woman was in the fire-engulfed home and Doucette said she was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with smoke inhalation. Crews cut the roof of one of the neighboring houses to save the furniture inside. That residence sustained significant damage, Doucette said. It wasn’t immediately clear how much damage there was to the third home. Doucette said downed power lines behind the destroyed home created a hazard for crews for a time. No word yet on how the fire started.
