VALLEY CENTER: Fire destroys mobile home

VALLEY CENTER —- Fire destroyed a double-wide mobile home Tuesday afternoon, but no one was hurt, a California Department of Fire and Forestry Protection spokesman said.

A resident came home about 3:20 p.m. and found the house full of smoke, CalFire Engineer Mike Mohler said. A neighbor called 911, but by the time firefighters arrived, flames were consuming the home, he said.

It took firefighters 35 minutes to extinguish the fire, Mohler said. The structure was destroyed, an estimated loss of $200,000, he said.

The cause is under investigation.
