2 Alarm Apartment Fire Update

February 8, 2010

Fire dispatchers received numerous calls that a two story apartment building was on fire. When firefighters arrived, flames started showing through the roof of the building. Because the fire was escalating, a second alarm was dispatched to the scene. It took firefighters approximately 15 minutes to bring the fire under control. The fire was confined to the one building which is currently vacant. Neighbors told investigators that the building was vacated last month by the city because of poor living conditions. A notice was found on the front of the building. Neighbors said a maintenance man was seen taking appliances out of the building in recent days. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries during the incident.
