San Bernardino City Firefighters will donate $5,000 in equipment to Little League teams Saturday while dedicating a baseball field to a fire captain who died last year.
The 9 a.m. field dedication at Wildwood Park will honor the memory of Capt. Creig Nece, a 30-year veteran who died March 2, 2009, after breaking his back in an off-road accident in Glamis.
In conjunction with the field dedication, firefighters have partnered with BIG 5 Sporting Goods to provide bats, baseballs and gloves.
