Fill a boot with a scoop of ice cream? Those things may not seem to go together, but when firefighters of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District partnered with Baskin Robbin’s the combination helped raise nearly $9,000 to help people living with muscular dystrophy.
For the third year in a row, firefighters partnered with the popular ice cream store to raise money for their Fill the Boot Fundraiser during 31 cent Scoop Night.
“The show of support from our community was great,” said one firefighter. “We feel honored to be able to give back to kids living with this disease.”
Fill the Boot is a roadside campaign where firefighters greet motorist from street corners and ask them to drop donations into firefighter’s boots. The money collected helps the Muscular Dystrophy Association purchase wheelchairs, aid local support groups and provide summer camp experiences specifically for children with neuromuscular disease.
