Numerous calls to Fire 9-1-1 dispatchers that a house was on fire on Dulce Ave. A mailman who was delivering mail on the street noticed the smoke and asked neighbors to call fire department. One of the neighbors entered the home through the front door with a mask on, found the inside of the house full of thick black smoke. It was coming from the back bedroom,. He went back but could not get back far enough because of the thick smoke. He could see a person lying in a bed, but not moving. As he was leaving, he also saw a man slumped over on the living room couch not moving.
There also were several cats lying on the floor not moving. When firefighters arrived on scene, they entered the home and had the fire out in a minute. The fire was confined to the back bedroom where an adult female was found deceased in a bed. The rest of the house had very thick smoke damage.
An adult male was found in the living room. Several dead cats were also found in the house. The cause of the fire and cause of death of the two adults is under investigation by Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and the Clark Coroner’s Office. If the deaths are determined to be fire related by the Coroner, this would be the first two fire deaths in the city of Las Vegas this year. Last year there were a total of eight deaths.
