28 Firefighters Battle Fresno Apartment Fire

Firefighters raced to put out the flames at an apartment complex in southeast Fresno. The fire sparked near B and Calaveras Streets Saturday afternoon.

28 firefighters were at the scene and were able to keep the flames from spreading from the second story.

One person suffered smoke inhalation but was treated and released. No one else was hurt.

Investigators said the fire was caused by a child playing with a lighter.

The damage is estimated at $40,000.
