At 9:29 am, Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBC FD) responded to a residential structure fire located at 4595 Camino Del Mirasol.
SBC FD responded three engines, a ladder truck and a battalion chief to the scene. The first arriving engine reported a small fire and a burn victim as a result of the fire. A worker was removing some flooring in a small utility room adjacent to the garage when for unknown reasons, a flash fire occurred. A 30 year old male suffered second and third degree burns to 80 to 90% of his body. The man was treated on scene by firefighter / paramedics and transported to Cottage Hospital by AMR ambulance. The man was later flown to Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles.
Firefighters remained on scene checking the structure for fire damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Cal OSHA was also notified.
