ROCKLIN, CA – Firefighters were investigating the cause of a Rocklin house fire where an off-duty deputy helped rescue an elderly woman and a little girl inside Monday night.

Firefighters say the fire started before 11 p.m on the 3000 block of Midas Avenue.

Rocklin Fire Chief Bill Mikesell said fire crews from Roseville, south Placer County and Loomis helped contain the fire.

According to Mikesell, a deputy was in the area when the fire started.

“The Rocklin Police Department and an off-duty Placer County Sheriff’s deputy were first on scene, as well as a resident,” Mikesell said. “They kicked in the front door and evacuated the residents. As a result of their quick action, we had no injuries and no loss of life.”

According to firefighters, it took crews about an hour to contain the fire.
