A dog was brought back to life by a firefighter, but two dogs and a cat were found dead in a home after a fire in east Bakersfield.
Fire official Derek Tisinger said that at about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Kern County Fire Department received a call regarding a home on fire in the 1200 block of Oswell Street.
Firefighters said they found smoke and flames coming from the living room area of the home.
Tisinger said that the initial call was that people were still trapped inside, but when crews arrived, he said no one was home at the time of the fire.
Crews learned that there were nine pets in the house when the fire occurred.
Four dogs were saved, including one revived by firefighters at the scene.
Two dogs and one cat were confirmed dead. Two cats remain unaccounted for.
No injuries were reported and the KCFD was assisted by the Bakersfield City Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, Animal Control and the Kern County Sheriff’s Department.
The Red Cross was called to assist the person displaced by this fire.
