Kern County firefighters are heroes to stuck puppy

The female pup somehow got her head stuck in a cast iron tractor part. A farmer lugged the 50-pound tractor part containing the stuck pup to the fire department’s Wasco substation. The pup’s head was stuck in a 2½-inch hole.

Firefighters first tried sliding the pup out by slathering her in cooking oil. That didn’t work, so they broke out the Jaws of Life, an air chisel and various other power tools, according to the fire department.
