Santa Clara County fire units battled two separate structure fires on Monday, with a Los Gatos blaze gutting a home shortly before the second fire erupted at a townhouse in Campbell.
Five firefighters and one police officer were taken to local hospitals suffering from heat exhaustion, said Battalion Chief Robert Smith. “It’s just hot,” he said.
