Fireworks go on sale in Fillmore, banned in rest of county

A combination of dry brush, a hot summer and fireworks can be a lethal mix.

The National Fire Protection Association estimates 15,500 fires were started by fireworks in 2010, leading to eight civilian deaths, 60 injuries and $36 million in property damage.

Officials throughout Ventura County ban the fiery, sparkly devices, saying they want to prevent property damage and injuries.
