Hayward hills home destroyed in early morning blaze

HAYWARD — A home in the Hayward hills was destroyed Sunday morning in the second fire within two hours at that residence, a fire captain said.

About 4:20 a.m., fire crews arrived to the scene of a one-alarm fire at a single-story home on the 28100 block of Dobbel Avenue, a scene to which they had been dispatched just two hours earlier to extinguish a vegetation fire, Fire Captain Thor Poulsen said. The grass fire was said to have been caused by various outdoor grilling equipment in use at a dinner party earlier that evening.
