UKIAH, Calif.—Firefighters made progress Monday in their battle against several wildfires in California, including containing a blaze burning near Ukiah in Mendocino County.
The wildfire in a remote forest about 10 miles east of Ukiah began Saturday afternoon and consumed nearly 400 acres, or just over half a mile, in the Cow Mountain Recreation Area, said California Department of Fire and Forest Protection spokesman Daniel Berlant.
