Firefighters can add dry lightning to the list of dangerous conditions that could work against them this weekend on the Chips Fire.
The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for dry thunderstorms this afternoon through Sunday in the Sierra Nevada, including Belden, where the Chips Fire has burned 4,852 acres since Sunday.
As of 6:45 p.m. Friday, it’s was just 5 percent contained, according to the Forest Service.
