Fire in vacant home may have been caused by squatters

A fire did major damage to a vacant home Sunday afternoon and was very likely caused by homeless squatters, authorities said.
No one was injured.

The fire was reported at 4:44 p.m. in the 400 block of A Street, according to Richmond fire Battalion Chief Merlin Turner. Firefighters arriving found the back of the house and the roof fully engulfed in flames, he said.
