Tucson firefighters rescued two dogs after busting through a wrought-iron door and into a burning home on the South Side Tuesday morning, an official said. When firefighters arrived at the home in the 700 block West Calle Colado, near South 12th Avenue and West Valencia Road, they found flames coming from a corner bedroom, said Capt. Norm Carlton, a Tucson Fire Department spokesman.
Once inside, they found two dogs — one large and one medium sized — barely breathing in the living room, he said. Continue reading →

A fire in a shopping center on West Sahara Avenue late Sunday morning has been ruled accidental by Las Vegas fire investigators. There were no injuries in connection with the incident.
On Sunday January 27, Fire dispatchers received numerous calls at 8:50 a.m. that smoke was coming from the ZIA Record store located in the Westlake Center shopping complex at 4503 W. Sahara. Engine 5’s first due.
When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were seen on the roof of the one-story brick building. Firefighters had to force entry into the store, which is currently under renovation. Complex management told investigators that the business, which was
once a bike and ski shop, has been vacant for approximately six months and was being renovated into a record shop. No one was in the store at the time of the fire. It was closed and locked.
Fire investigators estimated damage at $30,000. Damage was confined to the roof area and a small attic space over the main floor. There was light smoke throughout the business. Continue reading →

American LaFrance LLC (the “Company†or “ALFâ€) announced today that it has filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the U.S. bankruptcy code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Firefighters and EMS crews aided several people that were trapped. One worker is dead and another two people were seriously injured when a four-story PG&E structure collapsed in San Francisco on Monday.  Watch Video of rescue operation
A call at about noon reported a boiler accident that trapped several people, Talmadge said.One of the workers was extricated almost immediately after the accident and taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
KNTV’s Chopper11 showed firefighters and emergency personnel at the scene. Video also showed a large construction backhoe partially crushed by metal debris. Firefighters were also seen bringing in gurneys to help the injured.One person that appeared unconscious was taken away from the scene on a stretcher, KNTV reported.There are two four-story boilers that remained upright on the site.
Prince William County VA - An extensive report on the LODD of Prince William County’s Kyle Wilson was released this weekend. The investigative report, which is only one portion of the report, is 382 pages long. The fire-ground audio, animations, videos and still pictures are part of a video time-line of the fire.
It is difficult to listen as Kyle Wilson calls for help.

On Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 7:56 AM, units from the LAFD responded to a Traffic Collision at Avenue 43 and the Pasadena Freeway in Lincoln Heights/Solano Canyon.
A car traveling northbound on the Pasadena Freeway jettisoned off the freeway, landing in a flood control channel which runs parallel to the freeway. The car came to rest on it’s wheels, some 30 feet below the freeway.
Since our IAFF brothers in New Orleans have been impacted so severely from hurricane Katrina, I wanted to give us some appreciation for the stations, department and conditions that we have here. Our New Orleans counter-parts have been working out of trailers for a very long while.
