History of this Pick Head Axe:
The Pick Head Axe is modeled after the famed Collins Tool “Seagrave Axe” that was often carried by Los Angeles City Firemen in the early 1900s. Over the last few decades, it became increasingly difficult to locate and procure this particular model of fire axe. Enter Jason Knight, Los Angeles City Firefighter who brought the reveered item back to life with his company, appropriately named Fire Axe Inc.

Features
Fire Axe Inc. produces Firefighter axes that are identical to the original ‘Seagrave Axe’. The 6 lb Head is mirror polished steel and measures 12″ long, including the 5″ Pick. This firefighter pick head axe can be mounted on your choice of handle. This Firefighter Axe is available with a Hickory Wood or Brown Fiberglass Handle measuring 28”, 32”, or 36” lengths.
Excellent Handle Options
The wooden handle is made by American craftsmen of the finest 2nd growth Tennessee Hickory. And it’s attached to the head not with a single wedge, like most axes, but four! One lateral wood wedge and three additional metal wedges work together to brace the head in all dimensions.
Fire Axe Inc. uses a handle made exclusively for the The Firefighter Axe by NUPLA Corp., one of America’s top manufacturers of tool handles. The brown Nupla fiberglass handle was designed to mimic the look of a traditional wooden handle. The fiberglass handle is rated at an incredible1200 lbs! It is also heavily epoxied to the head.
Fireground Safety and Added Comfort
If your hands have ever slipped while using an axe, you recognize the danger in swinging one. This axe handle helps reduce that risk by providing you with a textured grip, short neck, and a “fawn’s foot” knob at the end to help prevent that from happening.
