Upon their arrival firefighters quickly determined that a fire on the exterior of the building had penetrated the attic of the multi-unit retail structure.

Battalion Chief Kendall Pearson called for a defensive attack, including multiple hand lines, at least one deck gun, and two aerial master streams, once the fire had breached the shared attic space.

As soon as it was determined to be safe a roof crew was sent aloft to make a trench cut that worked to save the remainder of the structure. Firefighters worked for several hours to save two of the five retail spaces, including a hair salon and a 7-Eleven convenience store.
