A newborn baby was surrendered to a Riverside city fire station Saturday morning.
At 8:30 a.m., someone left the baby at Station 12, 10692 Indiana Ave., said Battalion Chief David Campos.
California’s safe surrender law allows parents to drop off newborns confidentially to a hospital, fire station or other site.
In the first six months of 2008, 31 babies had been surrendered this way in the state, according to the state Department of Social Services.
