Mid morning fire guts Clifton home

December 11, 2008

New Jersey – Three women escaped uninjured, when a fire broke out in their home at 32 Trella Terrace at around 8:30 Monday morning December 8.
The fire originated in the basement and extended to the first floor, gutting most of the home and sending heavy smoke throughout the structure.
The women; an 18 year old, her mother and her grandmother had no time to gather belongings and were forced out of the house with just the clothes on their backs.
When the father returned from an errand, he entered the burning house in an attempt to locate the family pet. He was helped to safety by arriving firefighters and transported to a hospital with smoke inhalation. His injuries were not believed to be serious.
It is unknown if the pet was rescued.
An investigation is in progress to determine actual cause and origin. The home’s furnace has not been ruled out. The structure received heavy damage.
