OakLand Firefighters share credit for controlling Best Buy blaze

A fire sprinkler system is being credited with helping contain a fire that burned in a Sacramento electronics store early this morning. Sacramento Fire Department crews were called at 5:56 a.m. to the Best Buy store at 1901 Arden Way, said fire Capt. Jim Doucette.

Tour Bus Crashes Near Hoover Dam, 5 Dead

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a tour bus crashed Friday afternoon on a highway near Hoover Dam, killing at least five passengers and injuring up to 16 others. DPS spokesman Lt. James Warriner says they have confirmed five fatalities on the scene. The injured are being taken to Kingman and Las Vegas hospitals.

So. Cal. Firefighters get bigger ammunition to fight wildfires

The next time a wildfire breaks out in Southern California, local firefighters will have some new tools at their disposal. The U.S. Forest Service last week picked up two new Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems, known as MAFFS 2s, which will be used by the local Air National Guard.
