The Flat Head Firefighter Axe from Fire Axe Inc. is an incredible tool. The craftsmanship in these fire axes are top of the line American made quality. The patented handle guard that owner Jason Knight has put on these heads is one of a kind. Tremendous pride and painstaking accuracy of construction is given to each axe he makes. Having the awesome opportunity to “hang-out” at the shop regularly and watch him make fire axes by hand is truly impressive.

The original Seagrave firefighter axes made by Collins Tools in the early 1900′s also had the wing shape near the handle, but the handle guard strategically placed at the front of every axe from Fire Axe Inc. is one of a kind.

Flat Head Firefighter Axes are known for heavy use and strategic forcible entry techniques, so the entire heads of these flat head fire axes are heat treated. Growing in popularity is the method and techniques of using the blunt side of a Flathead axe for cutting a vertical ventilation hole.

By sliming the cross-section of the cheek, and lengthening the blade edge, Fire Axe Inc. was able to improve penetrating ability and still equalize the balance of the head, precisely centering its weight over the axis of the handle. The flat face of the axe is made square, with sharp corners to improve penetration. The entire head is balanced front-to-back and side-to-side, so the 8 lb. Flat Head Firefigher Axe not only swings more easily, it flies straight, landing a more solid blow with either end, without tending to tip. An integral guard extends down the blade side of the head to enhance rigidity and protect the handle against impact on full penetration or overstrikes. And because the mirror polished surface creates far less friction, you’ll find the Firefighter Axe cuts deeper, cuts cleaner, cuts faster…and stays sharp.

All of the flat head fire axes by Fire Axe Inc. all come with a patented groove system to easy lock and marry a Halligan bar. The sizing will work with virtually all Halligans, but it was designed using the Pro-Bar from Fire Hooks Unlimited.
