Captain Nece was a very good man. His warm heart and pleasant company will be dearly missed around the San Bernardino Fire Department. Everyone loved Captain Nece. Thank You Creig for all of the kind words, advice, and wonderful humor you brought to many of my days. God Bless you Creig, I will miss you Brother.

I have lost a dear friend in Creig. Its been over 30 years since I first met Creig. I have known Creig since we were stationed in the US Army in Gelnhausen, (West) Germany in the 709th MP Batallion, back in 197-77. Creig always spoke highly of "San Berdu" when we were overseas. After the military, even though we lived several states apart, the friendship and bond we had established while in the miltary, carried over into our civilian lives. I will always be grateful for the cards, letters, phone calls, and periodic visits we shared with one another over the years. Creig was always positive, upbeat and quick with the wit. He always had good news to share, whether it was about Cathy, his wife, his children, his siblings, or the next adventure he was going on. And he truly loved life, whether working in the oilfields of Texas, searching for gold, smokejumping in Montana, camping out, making runs for the fire department, Creig was one whose life was not short on adventures. I count him in my top 5 friends of my entire life. Everyone else should be fortunate to have a friend in their lives like Creighton Ferrel Nece. His passing will create a permanent void and he will be sorely missed. Goodbye my friend.
