A major collision occurred near the Colorado River and Laughlin over the Holiday weekend.
On Monday, May 25, 2009 at 07:30, the Bullhead City Dispatch Center was advised by the Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue Ranger, that they may have spotted the body of the drowning victim from last evening.
Diver Team members from the Bullhead City Fire Department and the Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department were in a meeting preparing to coordinate another search this morning. They had just loaded the boat with supplies when the call was received.
The Bullhead City Fire Department Dive Team had been called out last evening at 2050 hours to search for a male drowning victim. Reportedly he jumped in the river from the Nevada side. Diver Team members searched the area that the victim was last reported seen with no results. After one hour, Battalion Chief Craig Stephenson called off the search and arrangements were made to resume the search in the morning. DPS Air Ranger was also advised.
Under the direction of Bullhead City Fire Department Dive Team Leader Jim Smith, the Bullhead City Rescue Boat with Diver Team members was launched in the river by 0745. Receiving the location via radio from the DPS Air Ranger, divers from both departments were deployed to resume the search. At approximately 0820, divers located the victim.
The body was turned over to the corner and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
