Sacramento Firefighters Face 2 Alarm Fire at Care Home

SACRAMENTO, CA – Sacramento fire crews were forced to evacuate more than 150 patients after a two-alarm fire burned in the roof of a Sacramento care home Sunday, according to fire officials.

The blaze started at the Norwood Pines Care Center on Jessie Avenue in north Sacramento around 2 p.m., Sacramento Fire Capt. Jim Doucette said.

Doucette said crews arrived to find light smoke inside the facility that specializes in treating Alzheimer’s patients. Firefighters located the fire in the attic and quickly contained the blaze, Doucette said.

More than 150 residents of the home were removed while crew attacked the flames. No was injured. The facility was expected to be fully operational again by Sunday evening.
