genthumb-4.ashxSACRAMENTO, CA – Firefighters battled an electrical fire in a six-story building on 11th Street in downtown Monday morning. Sacramento City Fire Capt. Jim Doucette said the fire broke just after 7:30 a.m. on the 6th floor of the building at 1117 11th Street, causing heavy smoke on the 5th floor. The fire was caused by a piece of equipment that burned out. Firefighters were able to put it out quickly preventing any significant damage to the building. Doucette said one of the firefighters slipped on a staircase and was transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons, but no other injuries were reported. The building houses various businesses including the Chops Steaks Seafood restaurant. Two lanes on L street were blocked as fire crews responded to the scene and officials temporarily shut down the light rail train on K Street mall at 11th street for less than an hour.genthumb-3.ashx
