An artificial flower display somehow caught fire at a Tracy craft shop, burning at least one aisle in the store, but officials aren’t quite sure how it started. No injuries were reported. Tracy fire department got a call at 12:02 p.m. about a fire at Michael’s Arts & Crafts, 2940 W. Grant Line Road. Division chief Andy Kellogg said the fire was pretty much out by the time firefighters arrived. He said the sprinklers on the store’s ceiling were able to extinguish the fire in less than five minutes. Kellogg said he is unsure how the fire started, but investigators are looking into it. He said someone shouted, “fire,” prompting the store’s manager to evacuate the building. About a half dozen employees waited in the parking lot as firefighters worked to clear smoke out of the building. The manager, who would not identify himself, said he had no comment on the incident. Kellogg said he wasn’t sure of the value of the damage but said the fire ate up at least one aisle.
