County fire officials have set a public memorial service for two firefighters killed in the line of duty Sunday night, Aug. 30, battling the Station Fire in the Mount Gleason area of the San Gabriel Mountains. Los Angeles County Fire Department Firefighter Specialist Arnaldo “Arnie” Quinones and Capt. Tedmund “Ted” Hall will be honored in ceremonies starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Dodger Stadium, 1000 Elysian Park Way, Los Angeles.
Quinones and Hall were assigned to L.A. County Fire’s Air and Wildland Division, where they supervised an inmate fire crew at Fire Camp 16. The two were driving in search of an escape route for the crew on Sunday when their engine plunged 800 feet down a steep mountainside and crashed upside down. Memorial funds have been set up for the two firefighters’ families. Click here for donation information.
