Marina Volunteer firefighters to donate Thanksgiving dinners

November 25, 2009

The Marina Volunteer Firefighters Association will be handing out 50 complete Thanksgiving dinners to members of the Church of God Prophecy on Thursday, officials announced today.

The dinners were donated by Harvey Dadwal of the Marina Subway and will be prepared by the Marina Savemart.

Steve Williams, MVFFA event chairman, said Dadwall called him on Monday and in a matter of 48 hours have donated about $2,500 worth of Thanksgiving dinners to needy families at the church.

Dadwall said many of the members of the 40-year-old church have been hit hard by the economy.

“We’ve sort of taken them under our wings,” he said.

The Thanksgiving dinners will be handed out starting at 9 a.m. at 226 Carmel Avenue in Marina.
