An early-morning fire damaged an upscale Hollywood boarding kennel where more than 100 dogs were housed for the holidays, but no dogs were injured in the blaze, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters were sent to LA Dogworks, at 1014 N. Highland Ave., shortly after 1 a.m., said LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey. Arriving firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke coming from out of the one-story building. The blaze was centered in the rear mezzanine, Humphrey said.
Dozens of firefighters helped extinguish the fire within 32 minutes, saving more than 100 dogs, who remained at the kennel.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Humphrey said.
