Woman, 90, escapes Fresno fire

March 8, 2010

Two women, one of them 90 years old, escaped a fire that destroyed a mobile home Tuesday morning in central Fresno.

The fire was reported about 9 a.m. on the 2700 block of West Ashlan Avenue.

Fresno Fire Department spokesman Gary Eberhard said two roofers working nearby heard the fire break out.

They helped get the 90-year-old and her companion, whose age was not provided, out of the home.

Firefighters arrived and took on the blaze, but the home, valued at $50,000, was destroyed. An additional $10,000 in contents were lost.
