Salinas firefighters extinguish blaze from ‘unattended pot of food

March 16, 2010

Salinas firefighters extinguished an apartment fire they say started from an “unattended pot of food” this afternoon.

Battalion Chief Brett Loomis said firefighters responded to the blaze around 1:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Nantucket Street and found heavy smoke coming from the complex.

The fire was extinguished within minutes, Loomis said. Damage cost is estimated about $2,500 and is mostly due to smoke.
