Saratoga Home Heavily Damaged by Fire

May 13, 2010

On Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 3:43 AM, units of the Santa Clara County Fire Department were dispatched to reports of fire in a one-story ranch style home at 20330 Kirkmont Drive in Saratoga, California.

Upon arrival, Battalion Chief Brad Darbro reported significant fire showing from the front of the structure leading to a request for a second-alarm to assist with fire attack and manpower.

During the early stages of the fire the decision was made to initiate a defensive attack due to the volume of smoke and fire within the structure. Firefighters were able to knock down the bulk of the fire using multiple attack lines positioned around the exterior of the home.

There were no reports of injuries to either firefighters or the six occupants of the home. The origin of the fire is considered suspicious and investigators are working to make a final determination as to the cause.
