The Metro Blue Line tracks in South Los Angeles were temporarily blocked Friday morning while firefighters rescued a woman trapped in a car that collided with a big rig.
Her condition was unknown. The accident occurred about 7 a.m. at 48th Place and Long Beach Avenue, said Shawn Lenske of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters freed the woman driving the car, which was pinned beneath the big-rig cab. Trains on the Blue Line were delayed for up to 40 minutes; buses were being used to shuttle passengers.
The circumstances of the collision were under investigation, officials said.
