BALDY MESA • A fire tore through a mobile home in Baldy Mesa on Sunday evening, destroying the structure, according to San Bernardino County Fire officials. Everyone inside the home managed to get out safely before flames gutted the double-wide mobile home, authorities said. The fire was reported a little before 7 p.m. at a home in the 9700 block of Baldy Mesa Road. County firefighters from Hesperia, Phelan and Victorville tried to fight the flames from inside the home, but were unable to do so. “Due to the heavy fire conditions inside the double-wide,
(the firefighters) were pushed back,” Engineer Jay Hausman said. There were two people in the home when the fire broke out, but they managed to escape and suffered no injuries, he said. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. Firefighters managed to save another structure on the property, but the mobile home was a complete loss. The estimated cost of the damage was not immediately available. Investigators determined the blaze started as a result of an electrical fire that broke out underneath the subfloor, Hausman said.
