No one was hurt in a mobile home fire reported Thursday in the 800 block of Mercury Street near Santa Nella.
Merced County Fire Department firefighters responded to the single wide mobile home shortly before 10 a.m., according to Engineer Mario Rivera.
The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation. The mobile home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, and was destroyed. Firefighters said the structure had been vacant for two years. The mobile home’s value was estimated between $4,000 and $6,000.
A neighboring mobile home sustained minor damage from the heat. The fire was controlled at 12:30 p.m., Rivera said.
A total of 12 firefighters, five engines and one water tender responded to the scene.
