Fire damages southwest Fresno house

The Fresno Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 2006 E. Kaviland Ave. in southwest Fresno this morning. The fire broke out shortly before noon. When firefighters arrived they could see smoke and flames coming from the home. A plume of smoke was visible more than a mile away.

Apartment Bldg. Residents Evacuated After Dumpster Fire

April 24, 2011

About 60 residents in a Berkeley apartment building were evacuated Saturday morning after a Dumpster caught fire underneath the four-story structure, a Berkeley fire assistant chief said. The single-alarm blaze was reported at 12:05 a.m. in the building’s parking structure, located underneath the residential units, Berkeley assistant fire chief Donna McCracken said.

Oakland Firefighters Discover Pot Grow Operation

Oakland firefighters battling a house fire Saturday morning stumbled right into a marijuana grow operation. The fire started just before 2 a.m. at a home on Arlington Avenue in north Oakland and responding firefighters knocked down the flames in just about ten minutes.
