San Jose firefighters extinguish two-alarm blaze

San Jose firefighters extinguished a two-alarm blaze Saturday night in a commercial building at San Antonio and 24th streets. “Flames were shooting from the roof when we got here” five minutes after the blaze was reported at 8:12 p.m., said Capt. Rob Brown. Brown said firefighters believe the 7,000-square-foot building was unoccupied.

Woodland Fire Department investigating structure fire

The Woodland Fire Department is investigating the cause of a single-story residential structure fire that started blazing Saturday afternoon. Around 1:25 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a possible structure fire at 20 Grand Ave., according to a news release from Battalion Chief Greg Robinson.

Former firefighter Chris Keenan said Friday he was “just trying to help out a neighbor.” The Redondo Beach resident ran onto the jetty near Kincaid’s restaurant Thursday evening and plucked a Marina del Rey man out of the water when a sailboat crashed into the rocks and disintegrated.
