Firefighter To Run 26.2 Miles Wearing Gear

Less than 1 percent of the population has run a marathon. On Sunday, Folsom resident Kyle Hamilton will attempt to join the exclusive club with an additional 30-pound challenge. Hamilton will run the 26.2-mile California International Marathon with his fire gear. Hamilton is a member of Team Firefighter.

Smoke alarms save lives, but fire guts Patterson home

Patterson firefighters credit properly functioning smoke detectors for saving the lives of nine people who were sleeping in a home that caught fire over the weekend. The Patterson Fire Department responded to 1304 Shasta Creek Court and found the two-car garage fully involved about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Division Chief Jeff Breasher.

Two structure fires are reportedly burning tonight in Shasta County. Firefighters are battling a mobile home fire on Lake Boulevard in Redding tonight and a house fire north of Shingletown. The fire was reported shortly after 8 p.m., according to emergency dispatchers. The fire was reported in the 1200 block of Lake boulevard.
